Contents


It's a story about a lion(Alex), a zebra(Marty), a giraffe (Melman), a hippo(Gloria) and the crafty penguins escaping from the home of New York's Central Park. They rush into Madagascar where the lemur King live and begin an endless crazy journey. Each student in the DDC Madagascar program will take a role in the performance, and they will obtain the relavant knowledge of performing, singing, dancing, scenery and clothing design, through which their abilities of oral English, sense, expression, understanding, creativity, and teamwork will be improved.


Teachers


* Tatiana


             Tatiana has been teaching musical theatre, drama and voice for 20 years. She is the Musical Theatre Director at The Magellan Charter School in Raleigh, North Carolina and volunteers as music and drama director with Special Theatre Arts of Raleigh. Tatiana has directed over 40 productions. Favorites include “The Lion King Jr”, “The Wizard of Oz”,“Willy Wonka”, “Grease”, “Annie Jr”, “School House Rock Jr.” and most recently “The Little Mermaid Jr.” She is also an accomplished actress. Theatre credits include “Romance, Romance” (Barb), “Fiddler On The Roof”(Grandma Tzeitel), “The Wizard Of Oz” (Aunt Em/Glinda), “The Secret Garden” (Alice). Outside of the classroom, Tatiana works as a professional voice-over artist for radio, television and film. She has lent her voice to numerous local, regional and national commercials and can be heard as the voice of the mother in the holiday animated film “An Elfʼs Story”.





* Kirstie

              Kirstie, Artistic Director of the North Carolina Dance Institute, received a BFA with the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. At UNCSA, Kirstie was coached by legendary choreographer, Agnes de Mille as the Lead Cowgirl in Rodeo. Kirstie attended Jacob’s Pillow and the Alvin Ailey Scholarship program in NYC. Numerous professional musical theatre productions include the National Tour of CATS in the role of the White Cat, Victoria and several companies of West Side Story.  Kirstie was appointed by National Dance Institute founder, Jacques d'Amboise, as the Artistic Director for North Carolina Arts In Action from 2005-2007. Kirstie was featured in the books:  Career Ideas for Kids who like Music and Dance and Firestarters: 100 Job Profiles to Inspire Young Women For the past 16 years, Kirstie has taught thousands of dancers at the North Carolina Dance Institute and has been invited annually as the Guest Contemporary Faculty for the Carolina Ballet Summer Intensive. Kirstie directed and choreographed The WizGot Jazz!,  Moving to the Masters, choreographs concerts and leads master classes throughout NC.  Kirstie enjoys mentoring talented students in their pursuit of their dreams and deeply thanks her parents for supporting her early ambitions to pursue a career in the arts.


Requirements 


* DDC & Dream Melody Madagascar Drama is suitable for Grade2 —Grade7.

* Students should have basic abilities to communicate in English.
